BenchTill provides accounts, tills and shop management tools for businesses. This page explains how information is used by these tools. Contact team@benchtill.com with questions or requests about your information.
Information used to provide the service
Account information includes your name, business name, email address, password hash and account verification records. Business information includes shop details, staff access, working hours, stock, sales, repairs, purchases and other records entered by your business. These records can include customers' contact details and receipt information.
BenchTill uses this information to run your business workspace, authenticate authorised users, record transactions, produce receipts and reports, and support account recovery. Each business has its own database and access is restricted to authorised users.
Connected shop email
Connecting a shop mailbox is optional. The owner chooses the mailbox and authorises its provider. BenchTill uses the authorised account identity and sending permission to send shop receipt emails requested by authorised staff. The permission used for Gmail does not read the inbox. The Microsoft connection uses account identity and mail-sending permissions.
Connection tokens are encrypted on the server. They are not stored in the browser. The authorised address, connection status and receipt delivery records are kept so the shop can manage its connection and avoid duplicate receipt emails. A shop owner can disconnect the mailbox in its receipt email settings.
Connected email information is used to provide this receipt feature. It is not used for advertising, sold to third parties or used to train artificial intelligence models. BenchTill's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Email delivery and service providers
Receipt emails share the recipient address, message and receipt attachment with the selected delivery provider: BenchTill's email service or the shop's connected Google or Microsoft mailbox. Account verification and recovery messages use BenchTill's email service. BenchTill currently uses Railway for hosting and Resend for its email service. Providers process information needed to supply their services under their own terms and privacy policies.
A shop's reply email is shown in its receipt email settings and can be used by customers to contact the shop. Sending a receipt does not automatically copy it to a separate shop inbox.
Cookies and printing
Essential cookies keep you signed in and recognise an approved till computer. Browser storage holds till preferences, including printer settings and explicitly saved label resume positions. Printing shares the selected receipt or labels with the printer selected on your computer.
Records and your choices
Business records are kept for the workspace and its audit history. Ending a licence does not automatically erase those records. Disconnecting a mailbox removes its active connection; earlier receipt delivery records remain part of the business history.
You can manage shop details and staff access in the master portal. Contact team@benchtill.com to request access, correction, export or deletion of information associated with your account. If your information was entered by a shop as part of a sale or repair, contact that shop first; it manages its business records.
